About the Role

Workiva is seeking a Machine Learning Engineering Intern for its Summer 2027 internship program. In this role, you will work with the Data Management and Analytics organization to support the development, deployment, and monitoring of machine learning models. You will gain practical experience across the machine learning lifecycle while collaborating with experienced Machine Learning Engineers, data scientists, and other technical professionals in an Agile environment.

Responsibilities

Participate in discovery, requirements gathering, and prototyping of new tools and libraries.

Develop tooling and features that support machine learning model development and deployment.

Work under the guidance of experienced Machine Learning Engineers.

Help integrate tools such as LlamaIndex and LlamaParse into existing workflows.

Assist in developing and deploying AI agents for automated data processing and analysis.

Participate in code reviews and contribute to software quality.

Create and maintain unit and integration tests.

Track development tasks and provide regular status updates.

Collaborate with teammates using Agile development methodologies.

Qualifications

Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Solid programming skills.

Basic experience with source control systems such as Git.

Strong interest in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and software engineering.

Required Skills

Familiarity with the data science lifecycle and fundamental machine learning concepts.

Proficiency in Python and/or Go.

Experience with Docker or Kubernetes.

Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS.

Familiarity with REST APIs.

Ability to work effectively with geographically distributed teams.

Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Preferred Skills

Familiarity with the data science lifecycle and fundamental machine learning concepts.

Proficiency in Python and/or Go.

Experience with Docker or Kubernetes.

Pay range and compensation package

$40.00 per hour
