About the role
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software development.
- 3 years of experience with full stack development, across back-end such as
Java, Python, Golang, or C++ codebases, and front-end experience including
JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or equivalent.
- 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
- 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
- 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
- Experience working with artificial intelligence systems and metrics analysis.
- Track record of collaborating closely with cross-functional partners to drive
product goal in a complex, matrixed organization.

With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple
teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of
large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.
We are seeking a Software Engineer Manager to lead the engineering team for our
core commerce experiences. In this role, you will manage and mentor a team of
engineers expanding protocol capabilities and launching agentic shopping
features across Google surfaces. You will provide leadership, drive technical
direction, and collaborate closely with cross-functional partners across the
consumer organization to deliver user experiences.The Core team builds the
technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and
advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product
components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building
blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the
pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to
build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing
systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact
important technical decisions across the company.Individual pay is determined by
factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or
training.
US: $207000 - $300000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits
