About The Role

Moody's Corporation is seeking an experienced Director of AI Engineering to lead the strategy, development, and deployment of advanced artificial intelligence platforms and applications. This leadership role involves overseeing multiple engineering teams, shaping the technical vision, and driving innovation in AI-powered solutions. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in transforming Moody's AI initiatives from prototypes to scalable, production-ready systems that deliver measurable business impact. This position requires a strategic thinker with deep technical expertise in enterprise AI, large language models, and cloud-native architectures, committed to fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and responsible AI governance.

Qualifications

12+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in leadership roles managing engineering teams and complex projects.

Proven expertise in languages such as TypeScript, Python, C#, or similar, with a strong understanding of architecture and code review processes.

Deep knowledge of enterprise AI applications, including large language models, retrieval augmented generation, and orchestration frameworks.

Experience deploying AI systems at scale in production environments, with a focus on observability, cost management, and incident response.

Strong background in cloud-native technologies, serverless architectures, data pipelines, and modern software design patterns.

Track record of developing multi-year technical strategies, guiding teams through AI prototype to deployment, and influencing organizational change.

Advanced understanding of AI risks, ethical considerations, and responsible AI practices, with experience implementing governance frameworks.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or related fields, or equivalent professional experience.

Responsibilities

Define and execute the long-term technical strategy for Moody's AI platforms and applications, aligning with organizational goals and industry best practices.

Lead, mentor, and grow multiple engineering teams, including managers, technical leads, and senior engineers, ensuring high performance and accountability.

Drive architectural decisions related to AI solutions, integrating large language models, retrieval augmentation, and agentic workflows to enhance product capabilities.

Promote engineering excellence through rigorous architecture and code reviews, automated testing, security standards, and operational best practices.

Manage budgets related to infrastructure, headcount, tooling, and vendor relationships, making strategic build-versus-buy decisions to optimize resources.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product management, legal, compliance, and risk to ensure responsible AI deployment and maximize customer value.

Attract, develop, and retain top engineering talent through mentoring, succession planning, and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

Establish and report on key performance metrics related to platform adoption, reliability, cost efficiency, and business impact.
