About The Role

Leidos is seeking a highly skilled TS/SCI cleared Software Engineer to join its dynamic team supporting a long-term DIA-NDOC DOMEX Technology Platform (DTP) contract. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on a mission-focused, solutions-oriented team that values innovation, collaboration, and professional growth. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing and maintaining scalable microservices that facilitate real-time data processing and analysis within a secure, cloud-based environment. While most work will be performed on-site at our client location in Bethesda, MD, flexible scheduling and remote work options are available depending on project requirements.

The position involves close collaboration with Systems Engineers, Software Engineers, Architects, and Operations teams to design, implement, and deploy robust systems that leverage modern technologies such as Kafka, Elasticsearch, Kubernetes, and Python. The role emphasizes building reliable, observable, and secure solutions to support the client's data-centric architecture, incorporating artificial intelligence, machine learning, and cross-domain transfer systems to meet evolving mission needs.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree with 4-8 years of relevant experience or Master's Degree with 2-6 years of relevant experience.

Must possess an active Top Secret/SCI clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain a Polygraph.

Proficiency in Python and backend frameworks such as FastAPI or Flask.

Experience with containerization technologies, especially Docker.

Hands-on experience with ETL processes and data integration.

Strong Linux environment development skills, including scripting with Bash or similar languages.

Deep understanding of RESTful APIs and microservice architecture principles.

Practical experience deploying, monitoring, and debugging services in Kubernetes environments.

Knowledge of security best practices, logging, and monitoring principles.

Familiarity with version control systems like Git and collaborative workflows such as pull requests and code reviews.

Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitLab or Jenkins.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Experience working within Agile development methodologies.

Self-motivated with a strong team orientation and the ability to work independently when required.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable Python microservices that support real-time data processing.

Implement message producers and consumers utilizing Apache Kafka for reliable messaging and data streaming.

Integrate microservices with Elasticsearch for efficient data indexing, searching, and querying in both real-time and batch modes.

Write comprehensive unit and integration tests to ensure high code quality, reliability, and maintainability.

Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate deployment processes and ensure seamless updates in Kubernetes clusters.

Participate actively in design discussions, code reviews, and architecture planning to promote best practices and innovative solutions.

Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements using observability tools and techniques.

Contribute to technical documentation, knowledge sharing, and team collaboration to foster a cohesive development environment.

Apply sound software engineering and design methodologies appropriate for development, integration, and production environments.

Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions aligned with client needs and project goals.
