About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Service Operations Engineering (SOE) Cloud Architect to join McKesson Pharmacy Systems (MPS). In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing scalable, secure, and resilient cloud solutions that support our customer-critical SaaS products. Your expertise will help drive the modernization and migration of key applications to cloud platforms, primarily focusing on Microsoft Azure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and cost-efficiency.

The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of cloud architecture, infrastructure-as-code, and cloud-native application design. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, DevOps, and security, to align cloud strategies with business goals. You will serve as an architectural authority, translating complex business requirements into effective technical solutions, and advocating for best practices in cloud deployment and security.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will typically hold a degree or equivalent in a relevant field, with at least four years of experience in cloud architecture and engineering. Relevant certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect are highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate strong technical skills in designing and supporting cloud solutions, especially within Microsoft Azure, including services like AKS, Function Apps, and Storage Accounts. Experience with Java applications, large-scale databases, container orchestration, and automation tools is essential. Familiarity with healthcare or highly regulated environments, along with knowledge of security standards such as HIPAA and PCI, will be advantageous.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are required to effectively engage with technical teams and clients. A strong understanding of high-availability architectures, security policies, and disaster recovery strategies is critical. Candidates should also possess experience in customer-facing roles, providing technical guidance and resolving complex issues efficiently.

Responsibilities

Design and implement scalable, secure, and resilient cloud solutions primarily using Microsoft Azure services.

Lead cloud migration and modernization projects for mission-critical SaaS applications, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum efficiency.

Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, and security teams to enhance platform performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.

Provide architectural guidance for Java-based applications, containerized workloads, and large-scale database environments.

Evaluate emerging cloud technologies, automation strategies, and best practices to continuously improve platform capabilities.

Support customer-facing technical discussions, providing expert advice and resolving complex technical issues.

Establish and promote cloud governance, security, and compliance standards aligned with industry regulations.

Contribute to the adoption of AI-enabled tools and capabilities to streamline engineering workflows and foster innovation.
