About The Role

AMP Robotics is seeking a highly skilled Machine Learning Engineer to join our perception team, reporting to the Engineering Manager of Perception. In this role, you will be at the forefront of developing and deploying advanced deep learning and machine learning models that enhance our robotics and computer vision capabilities. Your primary focus will be on designing, experimenting with, and implementing innovative perception solutions across various domains, transforming research ideas into real-world applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including AI Data Team project managers, ML modeling engineers, and cloud infrastructure engineers, to ensure seamless integration of models from conception to production. Your expertise will be instrumental in maintaining AMP’s technological edge and advancing our mission to modernize waste sortation systems. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful projects that drive sustainability and innovation in recycling technology.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field, or equivalent work experience

4+ years of experience developing production-level code in Python

4+ years of experience implementing statistical models in operational environments

Proficiency with PyTorch and experience in deep learning research and development

Strong understanding of experiment design, statistical analysis, and validation techniques

Experience with deploying models in low-latency, large-scale environments

Knowledge of software engineering best practices, including version control, code reviews, testing, and CI/CD pipelines

Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team

Preferred Qualifications Include

3+ years of deep learning experience, particularly in computer vision applications

Experience with neural network quantization, acceleration, and inference tools such as TensorRT

Familiarity with research-level mathematics and data pipeline development

Experience working with SQL databases and data management systems

Hands-on experience deploying models in real-time, low-latency environments

Startup mentality with a passion for recycling, robotics, and environmental sustainability

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and optimize deep learning and machine learning models for perception tasks in robotics applications

Experiment with modern neural network architectures and techniques inspired by current research publications

Translate research ideas into scalable, production-ready solutions that deliver measurable impact

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements and integrate models into existing systems

Conduct rigorous experiments to validate model performance and robustness

Develop and maintain ML infrastructure, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and reliability

Serve as a subject matter expert in experiment design, statistical modeling, and deep learning methodologies

Support continuous improvement of our model deployment pipelines and infrastructure

Contribute to knowledge sharing, documentation, and best practices within the team
