Staff Software Engineer, Search Local Ads Data Platform
About the role
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software development.
- 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
- 5 years of experience with full stack development, across back-end such as
Java, Python, Golang, or C++ codebases, and front-end experience including
JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or equivalent.
- 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
- Experience integrating generative AI tools or LLM interfaces into workflows.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related
technical field.
- 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams
and setting technical direction.
- 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving
cross-functional, or cross-business projects.

The Local and Vertical Ads (LVL) Data Platform provides business location data,
calls data, service area business data, and its derived location and calls
intelligence to the Google Ads ecosystem. It is the basis for all location-based
and call ads. Your goal is to make location information accessible and used
universally by the Ads ecosystem.
The data that you manage encompasses a portion of Google's business across the
various Google Ads networks (Search, Display, YouTube, and Maps), contributing
to business with headroom and future growth opportunities. You will work on
serving, data infrastructure, or quality infrastructure and unlock new business
opportunities.

scale.Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills,
experience, and relevant education or training.
US: $207000 - $300000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitate alignment and clarity across teams on goals, outcomes, and
timelines.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance large scale software
solutions.
- Design, architect, and develop the next generation serving infrastructure for
loading and indexing information in Ads.
- Leverage AI to generate new additional content for our local businesses and
determine which ad should serve.
- Work on projects spanning a range of technical domains including feature
engineering, backend pipelines, low latency infrastructure, advertiser
reporting, and production stability.
