About The Role

We are seeking a seasoned Software Engineering Manager to join Emerson’s dynamic team based in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. In this pivotal role, you will lead the software strategy and development efforts for the next generation of Rosemount Magnetic and Vortex Flowmeters. Your leadership will drive innovation and excellence across global engineering teams, ensuring the delivery of industry-leading measurement solutions that emphasize performance, connectivity, cybersecurity, and reliability. You will oversee major software initiatives, foster secure-by-design practices, and contribute to the evolution of Emerson’s industrial automation products. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the future of industrial sensing technology while working within a collaborative, innovative environment that values technical excellence and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science from an accredited institution, with a preference for candidates holding a master’s degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science. A minimum of ten years of relevant software engineering experience, including a proven track record of leading complex product development from concept through release, is essential. Leadership experience within industrial or technology organizations for at least two years is required. Familiarity with coding standards such as MISRA, version control systems, defect tracking, and requirements management tools like Jama, DOORS, or Azure DevOps is necessary. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are vital. Candidates should be legally authorized to work in the United States, with the flexibility to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

Provide technical and organizational leadership to develop sophisticated embedded software products and systems, pioneering new techniques and advancing the state of the art in areas with significant technical risk.

Lead domestic and global teams to define software architecture and coding practices for next-generation Rosemount magnetic and vortex flowmeter platforms, considering sensor processing, communications, diagnostics, functional safety (IEC 61508 / SIL), and security (IEC 62443).

Develop detailed multi-year plans for complex programs, establish technical goals, define cost and schedule requirements, and initiate innovative projects aligned with product-line strategies.

Engage regularly with customers, vendors, and cross-functional teams to coordinate technical and administrative activities, ensuring alignment and project success.

Prepare technical proposals, represent Emerson in standards organizations, and contribute to industry advancements.

Administer technical policies and procedures, ensure accurate and timely software documentation, and approve or develop requirements and specifications.

Provide technical consultation across the organization, mentor and develop the Rosemount Flow software team, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Champion modern engineering practices including requirements management, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), secure development lifecycle (SDL), and the strategic use of AI-assisted development tools, in partnership with DevSecOps and New Product Development teams.
