About the Role

L3Harris Technologies is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join its team in Mason, Ohio, supporting the development of infrared camera product lines. The role covers the full software engineering lifecycle, from requirements and design through implementation, testing, documentation, and release.

This position follows a 9/80 work schedule, meaning employees work 9 days over a 14-day period for 80 hours and receive every other Friday off.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and support large technical software projects.

Apply software engineering principles throughout the development lifecycle.

Define requirements and workflows that translate into functional software components.

Develop solutions that meet technical, schedule, and cost objectives.

Perform unit, integration, and system testing.

Collaborate effectively with engineering and cross-functional teams.

Support bids and proposals, including cost and schedule estimates.

Provide technical guidance, coaching, and training to team members.

Drive improvements to software processes, systems, and products.

Contribute to new product and process development.

Prepare technical documentation for software releases.

Support operational plans with measurable business or functional impact.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

6+ years of relevant engineering experience, or a graduate degree with 4+ years of experience.

Degree-equivalent candidates may qualify with 10+ years of relevant experience.

2+ years of C/C++ experience developing embedded software.

2+ years of RTOS experience.

2+ years of engineering team leadership experience.

2+ years of experience developing low-level software, including drivers and Board Support Packages (BSPs).

Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.

Communication protocols such as:

GigE Vision

CoaXPress

Camera Link

Python development experience.

Basic hardware, circuit, schematic, and test-equipment knowledge.

Windows and Linux development environments.

Subversion version control.

Experience with oscilloscopes, DMMs, and other electronic lab equipment.

Background in Defense, Aerospace, Space, or related industries.

Basic understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM).

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
