OSHXpress is mission critical and supports enrollment and related capabilities across internal sales, self-enrollment, producer channels, portals, APIs, integrations, and reporting.

Competence across the complete OSHXpress technology stack is required. The engineer must work independently across front-end, server-side, API, integration, data, testing, build, and deployment concerns while partnering with Engineering, Project Management, IT leadership, and business stakeholders. The role also requires clear technical communication with stakeholders and senior leadership about architecture, tradeoffs, feasibility, and risk.

Areas of Accountability / Main Activities/ Expected Results:

Area No. 1: Full-Stack Engineering and Delivery

Main Activities:

Design, develop, test, deploy, troubleshoot, and maintain production software across the OSHXpress application stack.

Demonstrate hands-on competency with the OSHXpress stack: TypeScript, JavaScript, React, React Router 7 / Remix, Node.js 24 LTS, Fastify, Vite, Vitest, Playwright, GitHub, monorepo architecture, CircleCI CI/CD, SQL, REST APIs, server-side rendering, multiple environments, and Figma documentation.

Develop secure, reliable, scalable, and testable software using sound engineering standards, code review, and appropriate documentation.

Evaluate technical alternatives based on simplicity, reliability, security, maintainability, performance, business value, and long-term supportability.

Work within OneShare Health's simplified two-week sprint model; provide realistic estimates, surface constraints and dependencies, and break large initiatives into practical, testable increments.

Keep work status and technical context current in Linear; use GitHub pull requests and peer review for quality, traceability, and shared ownership.

Maintain automated testing with Vitest and Playwright and support reliable build, test, and deployment workflows through CircleCI.

Maintain architecture notes, runbooks, deployment knowledge, and technical procedures to reduce key-person dependency.

Area No. 2: Reliability, Technical Ownership and Cross-Functional Collaboration

Main Activities:

Treat production reliability, security, supportability, and recoverability as core engineering responsibilities alongside feature delivery.

Troubleshoot production defects and incidents, support root-cause analysis, and improve monitoring, alerting, rollback, and recovery practices.

Identify technical debt, recurring defects, and engineering-driven improvements early and capture them in the backlog before they become emergencies.

Partner with the Lead Software Engineer on architecture, technical feasibility, engineering standards, implementation strategy, and long-term platform direction.

Collaborate with Project Management and business stakeholders to clarify requirements, dependencies, and technical feasibility before development begins.

Participate directly in technical discussions with department leaders and senior executives, explaining concepts, constraints, risks, and tradeoffs clearly and at the appropriate level of detail.

Constructively challenge proposed solutions when they create unnecessary complexity, operational or security risk, or long-term maintenance burden.
