This opportunity is for a Data Scientist who will use advanced SQL and Python expertise to perform complex analysis, improve data strategies, and deliver actionable insights. The role involves working with large-scale datasets, statistical modeling, exploratory analysis, data visualization, and both structured and unstructured data.
The position supports high-impact analytical work in a collaborative environment and requires the ability to manage multiple priorities, communicate technical findings clearly, and develop reliable data solutions for complex business and regulatory challenges.
Core Working Hours: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST
What You’ll Do
Infrastructure and Data Lifecycle: Develop and implement databases and data collection systems to acquire information from primary and secondary sources while documenting SQL models for efficient data management.
Advanced Analytics: Perform comprehensive data manipulation, data wrangling, and exploratory data analysis to identify and interpret complex trends within large-scale datasets.
Strategic Decision Support: Use statistical software and modeling techniques to produce synthesized, actionable insights that support decision-making by senior leadership and client stakeholders.
Storytelling and Communication: Translate complex technical findings for non-technical users through advanced data visualizations, briefings, and executive-level slide presentations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with multidisciplinary teams to extract, analyze, and translate insights from structured and unstructured data sources.
Project Execution: Manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines in a collaborative environment.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline.
A Master’s degree or completion of a data science boot camp is a plus.
Two or more years of experience in a data science role.
Experience in federal financial regulatory environments, such as Treasury, or in government contracting is preferred.
Advanced proficiency in Python, including Pandas, NumPy, and Matplotlib.
Advanced SQL skills, including architecting and modifying complex code within relational database management systems.
Experience using data warehousing solutions to query and extract insights from high-volume, large-scale datasets.
Strong understanding of descriptive and inferential statistics and regression modeling.
Ability to use generative AI technologies, including large language models and agent-based coding tools, to automate workflows.
Proficiency with data science technologies such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, natural language processing tools, R, SAS, Plotly, and NoSQL.
Experience with data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI and Excel.
Experience with Palantir products is a plus.
Ability to pass a background investigation and obtain and maintain a Public Trust determination.
U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status is required.
Availability to collaborate during core business hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST.
Ability to attend quarterly in-person meetings in the Washington, D.C. area.
