The Opportunity:

Grow your software engineering career with meaningful impact as a Software Engineer working in the space domain!

We're looking for capable, motivated developers with 3+ years of experience who are ready to take on more independence and grow their technical skills. As a Software Engineer, you'll work on mission-critical space system software, delivering features with increasing autonomy while continuing to develop your expertise alongside senior engineers.

You'll implement well-architected solutions, collaborate across teams to deliver features, and contribute to our engineering culture. You're past the "learning the basics" stage—now it's about deepening your skills, handling more complex problems, and starting to help others grow.

You will be responsible for implementing features end-to-end, writing robust tests, participating in code reviews, and troubleshooting system issues. Solid experience with modern development practices, APIs, and cloud platforms is important.

If you're passionate about technology, ready to grow beyond junior-level work, and excited to make an impact on space mission systems, we would love to hear from you!

What makes this role exciting:

Deliver features independently - take ownership of well-scoped features from implementation through deployment

Expand your expertise - work with modern technologies (Python, React, AWS/Azure, Kubernetes) with increasing complexity

Collaborate and learn - work alongside senior and staff engineers who will help you level up your skills

Space domain impact - build software that directly supports critical space missions

If you're ready to take the next step in your career, build increasingly complex software, and contribute to systems that matter, let's talk!

Responsibilities:

Deliver Features with Increasing Independence

Implement full-stack features with clear requirements and minimal day-to-day guidance

Break down medium-sized tasks into implementable steps

Drive your assigned features through code review, testing, and deployment with support from senior team members

Start recognizing and raising potential issues or edge cases during implementation

Write Quality, Production-Ready Code

Develop clean, maintainable code following team standards and patterns

Write comprehensive unit and integration tests for your code

Participate actively in code reviews, both giving and receiving constructive feedback

Debug and fix issues in your own code and occasionally in areas of the codebase you're less familiar with

Support Junior Team Members

Answer questions and pair program with junior engineers when they need help

Share knowledge you've gained through documentation and informal mentoring

Review code from junior developers and provide helpful feedback

Help new team members onboard by sharing what you've learned

Contribute to Modern Development Practices

Work with RESTful APIs and scalable microservices under the guidance of senior engineers, moving away from monolithic structures toward event-driven, serverless solution

Deploy and troubleshoot applications on cloud platforms (AWS or Azure)

Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute meaningfully to sprint planning and retrospectives

Use CI/CD pipelines and understand how to troubleshoot common deployment issues

Collaborate Across the Team

Work with product managers and designers to clarify requirements and understand user needs

Communicate progress, blockers, and technical challenges to your team

Participate in technical discussions, asking good questions and contributing ideas

Document your work so others can understand and maintain your code

Continue Growing Your Skills

Learn new technologies and patterns relevant to your team's work

Identify opportunities to improve code quality and performance in your area

Suggest process improvements based on your experience

Stay curious and proactive about expanding your technical knowledge

Qualifications:

Required:

Security Clearance: Must possess an active TS/SCI security clearance

Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

Professional Development Experience: 3+ years of hands-on professional software engineering experience developing, testing, and deploying software in a professional environment

Programming Proficiency: Solid skills in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, with the ability to write clean, testable code

Modern Development Practices: Experience with version control (Git), code reviews, and working in Agile/Scrum teams

API & Web Development: Experience building or working with RESTful APIs and web applications, utilizing technologies such as REACT and FastAPI

Collaboration & Communication: Ability to work effectively on a team, communicate technical concepts clearly, and collaborate with cross-functional partners

Desired:

Hands-on experience deploying applications to AWS, Azure, or GCP

Experience with Spring Boot, React, or similar modern frameworks in production

Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)

Experience with both relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases

Understanding of CI/CD concepts and tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions)

Experience working with microservices architectures

Exposure to automated testing frameworks and practices

Previous experience in aerospace, defense, or other regulated industries
