About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our Substrate team at Palantir. This team is responsible for managing and optimizing Palantir's core production infrastructure, encompassing hundreds of Kubernetes clusters across diverse environments, including on-premises data centers, major cloud providers, and specialized edge devices. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and maintaining Palantir's managed Kubernetes offerings, ensuring seamless scalability, security, and operational excellence across all infrastructure types.

Your responsibilities will include automating the deployment and management of Kubernetes clusters, contributing to industry-leading tooling, and participating in upstream CNCF projects. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop solutions that meet rigorous compliance standards and support Palantir's mission-critical applications. Qualifications

Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in software development, with a focus on core infrastructure and operational excellence.

At least 2 years of experience in system design or architecture, including reliability, scaling, and performance optimization.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Golang, C/C++, Java, or similar, with a focus on systems programming.

Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or Kubernetes operators.

Deep understanding of hardware configurations, OS tuning, networking, and diagnostic tooling.

Extensive experience working with containers (Docker) and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes) at scale.

Familiarity with cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and experience with data center operations or SRE practices.

Proven track record of designing and operating large-scale observability or infrastructure systems.

Solid knowledge of networking fundamentals, including cloud networking infrastructure and Container Network Interfaces (CNIs).

Responsibilities

Develop and deliver a robust container runtime environment suitable for diverse environments including new cloud platforms, on-premises data centers, and edge devices.

Automate operations and establish standards for secure, scalable Kubernetes deployment with minimal manual intervention.

Innovate by adopting and contributing to CNCF projects and Kubernetes features, ensuring Palantir remains at the forefront of infrastructure technology.

Design the next generation of Palantir’s infrastructure, leveraging deep insights into internal systems and industry standards to improve performance, security, and reliability.

Build tooling and automation to facilitate seamless deployment, management, and scaling of Kubernetes clusters across multiple environments.

Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to troubleshoot complex issues, optimize system performance, and enhance security protocols.

Monitor and analyze infrastructure health, implementing proactive measures to prevent outages and improve system resilience.
