About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Mission Software Engineer to join our dynamic Phantom Works Open Architecture Systems Integrated Software (OASIS) Solutions team located in Berkeley, MO. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge defense and space projects, supporting Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining complex software systems that meet stringent industry, safety, and regulatory standards. This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance and offers the chance to work on innovative projects that have a significant impact on national security and space exploration.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, or related fields, along with substantial professional experience. Candidates must have an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance. A minimum of five years of software engineering experience, particularly with C++ programming, is required. Experience with MATLAB, Agile development methodologies, and familiarity with Linux and Windows operating systems are also essential. Preferred qualifications include advanced degrees, Top Secret clearance, knowledge of physics-based modeling software, and experience with DevSecOps practices. Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment are vital for success in this role.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain non-embedded software throughout the entire development lifecycle, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements.
Translate customer needs and requirements into initial software design concepts, ensuring clarity and feasibility.
Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative team environment and promoting best practices in software development.
Develop interface definitions and ensure seamless integration with other system components.
Perform unit testing, integration testing, and participate in peer reviews to maintain high-quality code standards.
Support software system integration and testing activities, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
Create comprehensive software documentation to facilitate future maintenance and upgrades.
Interface with various programming languages and tools, ensuring compatibility and performance optimization.
