About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Software Engineer to join our Phantom Works Open Architecture Systems Integrated Software (OASIS) team in Berkeley, MO. This role requires an individual with an active Top Secret security clearance who is passionate about developing innovative software solutions for complex defense systems. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in leading software development initiatives supporting Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS), focusing on space-based effects and air domain missions. The position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that involve sophisticated modeling, simulation, and system integration, contributing to national security and technological advancements.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field, along with extensive experience in software engineering. A minimum of five years of relevant experience in software development, especially with Java and/or C++, is required. Candidates must hold an active Top Secret U.S. security clearance. Additional qualifications include at least three years of experience leading software projects and one year of MATLAB proficiency. Preferred candidates will have a comprehensive understanding of physics-based modeling, familiarity with DevSecOps practices, and experience working with Linux and Windows environments. Strong communication skills, a customer-oriented mindset, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team are essential.
Responsibilities
Lead the planning, design, coding, and testing of software features, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and acceptance criteria.
Collaborate with system stakeholders to translate system-level requirements into detailed software specifications, ensuring traceability to design, code, and testing artifacts.
Conduct system-level analyses to identify risks and opportunities, and lead the deployment of mitigation strategies throughout the software lifecycle.
Review code and software artifacts to ensure compliance with standards and requirements, fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
Oversee testing activities, including verification and issue resolution, to ensure software functionality meets operational expectations.
Monitor project progress, track performance metrics, and ensure alignment with project plans and industry standards.
Mentor and coach junior engineers, promoting skill development and knowledge sharing within the team.
Interface with teams working across various programming languages and development environments, fostering effective communication and integration.
