About The Role

The Senior Operations Research Scientist at McKesson plays a pivotal role in architecting and implementing simulation and optimization products aimed at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of our supply chain operations. This position is part of the Enterprise Data Science Team within the Operations Research group. The successful candidate will work on strategic projects involving inventory optimization, transportation, and network modeling to support decision-making processes across various supply chain functions. The role requires developing sophisticated statistical models and deriving actionable business insights to drive innovation and operational improvements. The candidate should be an active learner, capable of grasping new analytic approaches swiftly and applying them effectively to solve complex interdisciplinary problems.

This position involves designing, deploying, and measuring the impact of stochastic process simulation solutions, making significant improvements to existing models, and translating technical outputs into strategic recommendations for business partners. The role offers an exciting opportunity to influence supply chain strategies and contribute to McKesson’s mission of improving healthcare delivery through data-driven decision-making.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or related fields.

Typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience in operations research, data science, or related areas.

Demonstrated experience in developing stochastic process simulations for supply chain decision-making.

Strong foundation in probability, statistics, and modern machine learning techniques.

Proficiency in data wrangling and querying using SQL.

Experience with statistical modeling in Python and/or R.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for operational improvements using data-driven approaches.

Drive adoption of innovative solutions and measure their impact on supply chain performance.

Stay current with emerging analytic techniques and incorporate them into existing frameworks as appropriate.

Develop dashboards, decision support tools, and applications to expose model outputs to end-users.

Engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders to facilitate understanding and implementation of solutions.
