SOFTWARE ENGINEER MANAGER
About the role
For our client, we are seeking a SOFTWARE ENGINEER MANAGER to join the team of a leader in the Retail & Consumer Goods space.
In this role, you will lead a team responsible for building secure, scalable software solutions that support modern retail operations. You will partner closely with product teams and strategic vendors to improve tooling, strengthen engineering practices, and deliver reliable systems. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity focused on mentoring engineers, driving consistency across development efforts, and supporting innovation through modern software design.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $140,000 – $240,000 annually
Responsibilities
Collaborate with product teams to develop secure, scalable software solutions
Write code to automate infrastructure and testing procedures
Work with vendors for tooling implementation
Create dashboards and monitoring solutions for proactive issue management
Lead and mentor a team of software engineers
Conduct performance reviews and support professional development
Foster a culture of modern software practices and continuous learning
Qualifications
5-7 years of relevant work experience in software engineering
Mastery of an object-oriented programming language, preferably Java
Experience with large projects and managing vendor relationships
Proficiency in modern web application frameworks like Spring MVC or Ruby on Rails
Familiarity with SQL queries in relational databases and modern development processes
Experience in mentoring and guiding junior engineers
Capable of translating high-level strategies into actionable plans
