Lead Machine Learning Engineer
About the role
For our client, we are seeking a Lead Machine Learning Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Manufacturing & Automotive space.
This role will focus on advancing machine learning capabilities for autonomous driving systems, with an emphasis on model development, experimentation, and evaluation at commercial scale. The position will partner closely with engineering teams to tackle complex driving and simulation challenges using emerging approaches in robotics and AI. This is a highly technical leadership role that combines hands-on modeling work with mentorship and cross-functional influence.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $220,000 – $270,000 annually
Responsibilities
Design, train, and evaluate state-of-the-art machine learning models for autonomous driving
Utilize emerging techniques to address commercial-scale challenges in driving and simulation
Lead cross-functional teams of engineers to push the boundaries of current technology
Define and execute effective data balancing, training experiments, and evaluation practices for large datasets
Qualifications
Extensive experience with Vision Language Action Models, Generative World Models, or foundation models in robotics
Minimum of 4 years of industry experience with commercial robotics systems
At least 1 year of experience mentoring Machine Learning Engineers
Master's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, or a related field with a strong mathematical or engineering focus
Practical experience handling long-tail problems in machine learning
Proficiency in Python and PyTorch on Linux
Understanding of LiDAR, camera, and radar processing techniques
