About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Principal Data Scientist to join the team of a leader in the Retail & Consumer Goods space.

This role will shape the organization’s analytics direction and lead advanced data science efforts that inform business decisions across the enterprise. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams to solve complex problems, develop innovative analytical solutions, and translate data into actionable strategy. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong leadership capability, and the ability to influence outcomes in a fast-paced retail environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $150,000 – $180,000 annually

Responsibilities

Shape the strategic direction for analytics across the organization

Lead the development of complex analytical solutions for business challenges

Act as a subject matter expert and provide technical guidance to teams

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to data scientists

Identify and integrate cutting-edge technologies to solve problems

Influence analytics strategy by aligning data science initiatives with business objectives

Drive innovation through independent judgment in methods selection

Qualifications

12+ years of progressive experience in data science or machine learning

Master’s degree in a quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience

PhD in a relevant field preferred

Extensive knowledge of advanced statistical methods and data modeling techniques

Advanced proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R, and relevant libraries

Experience with big data technologies and cloud-based analytics platforms

Exceptional communication and leadership skills
