Senior Software Engineer

For our client, we are seeking a (Remote) Senior Software Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Aerospace & Defense space.
This role will focus on designing and delivering high-quality software solutions in a distributed development environment, with an emphasis on technical ownership and product reliability. The position will partner closely with engineering peers to solve complex development challenges, improve processes, and help ensure work is completed on time and to engineering standards. It is well suited for a hands-on engineer who can balance deep technical execution with collaboration, estimation, and support for junior team members.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $110,000 – $135,000 annually
Responsibilities
Design, construct, test, and debug technical solutions according to engineering standards
Provide accurate effort estimates and meet defined schedules
Identify deficiencies in systems and processes, and recommend improvements
Take full responsibility for project components
Resolve high-complexity development issues
Enforce development deadlines and schedules
Facilitate task prioritization for junior developers
Utilize AI-assisted development tools to enhance the software development process
Qualifications
Master's degree in a related field with 3 years of experience, or Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience
7+ years of commercial product development experience
Proficiency in RPG & CL, DB2 SQL, SQL Procedure, and User Defined Functions
Solid understanding of object-oriented programming and design principles
Experience with agile software development in a distributed environment
Technical responsibility for shipping a software product
Comprehensive understanding of various testing types and software version control
