Staff System Software Engineer, AOSP (Android OS)
About the role
For our client, we are seeking a Staff System Software Engineer, AOSP (Android OS) to join the team of a leader in the Enterprise Technology space.
This role will focus on building and validating high-performance software for connected devices and platform-level systems, with a strong emphasis on Android OS and embedded environments. You will contribute to core architecture decisions, improve reliability and performance across multi-core systems, and partner closely with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver and validate new features. The position also involves test automation and cloud-based analysis to support ongoing feature validation and maintenance.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $185,000 – $273,000 annually
Responsibilities
Design and develop high-performance firmware and software for IoT platforms
Debug, optimize, and validate firmware on multi-core architectures
Create automated and unit-level functional tests for design validation
Participate in architectural discussions on next-generation business logic
Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to develop and test features
Utilize cloud-based analysis for feature validation and maintenance
Qualifications
8+ years of experience in software development
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
Proficiency in Kotlin, Java, and C++
In-depth knowledge of Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and Android OS
Experience with embedded programming on Linux and/or Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS)
