About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Staff Software Engineer - OCR / Text Extraction to join the team of a leader in the Enterprise Technology space.

This role will shape the technical direction of a document content extraction and transformation team, with a strong focus on OCR-enabled solutions. You will partner closely with product and engineering stakeholders to improve scalability, performance, and reliability while guiding initiatives from concept through production.

The position also involves designing event-driven architectures and leading architectural decisions that support high-volume, production-grade applications in the cloud.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $170,000 – $190,000 annually

Responsibilities

Set technical direction for the document content extraction and transformation team.

Lead architectural decisions incorporating OCR technologies such as Tesseract and Apryse OCR.

Drive initiatives to improve scalability, performance, and reliability of the product.

Design and implement event-driven architectures using AWS, Kafka, and data pipelines.

Take full ownership of initiatives from concept through production.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

8+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering production-grade applications at scale on cloud platforms.

5+ years in technical leadership roles using OCR technologies.

Proven track record of building scalable applications currently in production.

Expert proficiency in C#/.NET and cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
