Software Engineer II - Business Intelligence
About the role
For our client, we are seeking a Software Engineer II - Business Intelligence to join the team of a leader in the Manufacturing & Automotive space.
This role will focus on building and supporting the data foundation behind reporting, dashboards, and leadership-facing metrics. You will partner closely with BI analysts and business stakeholders to translate reporting needs into scalable data models and reliable KPI definitions. The position also plays a key part in improving data architecture, dashboard performance, and the trustworthiness of business intelligence outputs.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $139,000 – $166,800 annually
Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines that support data architecture.
Structure and optimize tables and views for efficient reporting and dashboard performance.
Implement data quality checks and documentation to establish trust in reporting.
Collaborate with BI analysts and business stakeholders to translate reporting needs into data models.
Support and evolve critical leadership deliverables, including enterprise dashboard reporting.
Migrate existing data delivery from AWS/Athena to Databricks.
Define and maintain business KPIs from scratch using SQL and Python.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field with 4+ years of experience in data engineering or software engineering.
Hands-on experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines and data quality checks.
Proficiency in Python, PySpark, or similar technologies for ETL development; knowledge of data analysis tools such as pandas and numpy.
Strong SQL skills or similar relational database experience.
Understanding of data consumption and willingness to interact with stakeholders for improvements.
Experience with BI tools like Tableau, Power BI, or QuickSight.
