Senior Software Engineer (Platform - Access & Authorization)
About the role
For our client, we are seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Platform - Access & Authorization) to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space.
This role will own the design, implementation, and operation of authentication and authorization systems that support secure access across the organization’s platforms. The engineer will build low-latency backend services, partner closely with product, security, and compliance stakeholders, and help create scalable self-service tools that improve both customer experience and internal efficiency.
The position also involves leading complex technical initiatives around modern access controls, while mentoring other engineers through design reviews and on-call participation.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $186,065 – $218,900 annually
Responsibilities
Own the design, implementation, and operation of authentication and authorization systems
Build secure, low-latency services using Go and gRPC for multiple platforms
Lead complex technical initiatives including authentication tokens, passkeys, and biometrics
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to balance security, customer experience, and compliance needs
Simplify access integration for product teams and create self-service tools to facilitate safe scalability
Mentor other engineers, enhance team skills through design reviews and on-call participation
Qualifications
5+ years of backend software engineering experience, specifically in Go or similar languages
Experience designing secure APIs with knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWTs, and session management
Proficiency with gRPC, Protocol Buffers, and database management systems like Redis and DynamoDB
Proven ability to manage and deliver complex projects across multiple teams, with effective communication skills
Experience in responsibly utilizing generative AI to enhance workflows and outputs
