11-month contract for a Senior Data Scientist / Product Analytics in San Diego, CA (hybrid)
***We can only consider US Citizens and US Permanent Residents available to work on W2 basis for this role!***
Overview: This role will perform advanced business and data analysis to identify actionable insights and recommendations that improve business performance. The position will leverage statistical analysis, predictive modeling, data mining, experimentation, and causal inference techniques while partnering directly with internal and external stakeholders to define analytical requirements.
Responsibilities
Perform business analysis using techniques such as statistical analysis, explanatory and predictive modeling, and data mining.
Identify best practices and develop actionable insights and recommendations to improve current business operations.
Partner directly with internal and external stakeholders to understand business needs and define analytical requirements.
Develop data-backed strategies designed to drive significant business growth and increase customer benefit.
Generate and evaluate hypotheses based on customer behavior, industry trends, and external market factors.
Design and interpret complex experiments, including methodologies beyond traditional A/B testing.
Apply causal inference techniques to understand business and customer impact.
Produce ad hoc analyses, reports, and insights as needed.
Support the implementation and development of systems used to capture business operations data.
Build reusable and scalable analytics solutions that improve efficiency and reduce duplication of work.
Leverage Generative AI and emerging technologies to accelerate insights from multimodal data.
Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders and influence data-driven decision-making.
Provide guidance to less experienced business data analysts as needed.
Required Skills
Advanced SQL skills.
Strong proficiency with data visualization tools such as Qlik, QuickSight, Tableau, or Plotly Dash.
Strong analytical and modeling skills using Python, including libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, and Scikit-learn.
Experience with causal inference techniques, including:
Propensity score matching
Difference-in-differences
Synthetic control methods
Strong foundation in predictive modeling, customer segmentation, and experimentation.
Experience designing and interpreting sophisticated experiments beyond standard A/B testing.
Experience building scalable and reusable analytics solutions.
Experience leveraging Generative AI and emerging technologies to accelerate analytical insights.
Strong ability to translate data into business strategies and actionable recommendations.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence decision-makers and build consensus.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Education & Experience
BS or MS degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in data science or product analytics.
Fintech experience preferred.
