Agility Partners is seeking a qualified Software Engineer to fill an open position with one of our financial services clients. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Foreign Exchange (FX) Technology team, supporting critical trading and financial systems while driving automation, application modernization, and engineering best practices. The ideal candidate is a hands-on developer who enjoys writing code daily, building automated solutions, and solving complex technical challenges in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and support Java-based applications that power critical trading and financial operations.
Build and maintain automated testing solutions to improve software quality and reduce manual testing efforts.
Develop automation scripts using Python and Shell Scripting (Bash/KornShell) to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency.
Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions.
Partner with product owners, business analysts, and engineering teams to deliver scalable technology solutions aligned with business objectives.
Participate in Agile development practices including sprint planning, code reviews, and backlog refinement.
Support application modernization initiatives, platform enhancements, and system integrations.
Contribute to CI/CD improvements, automation efforts, and engineering best practices across the development lifecycle.
The Ideal Candidate
3+ years of software engineering experience delivering enterprise-quality applications and solutions.
Strong hands-on Java development experience building and supporting production applications.
Experience developing and implementing automated testing frameworks and solutions.
Proficiency with Python scripting and automation.
Experience with Shell Scripting (Bash, KornShell, or similar) for system automation and tooling.
Strong understanding of SQL, software development lifecycle methodologies, and CI/CD pipelines.
Experience working within banking, financial services, fintech, or another regulated industry.
Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and support production environments.
Strong communication and collaboration skills with both technical and business stakeholders.
Self-starter who thrives in fast-paced environments and is passionate about automation and continuous improvement.
