Title: Backend Java Developer/Software Engineer 3 #100528
Location: onsite Chicago, IL 100% M-F; looking for candidates that are currently local ONLY!
Type: Contract
Hours: 8-5 M-F (40 hour work week)
Pay: $48-49/hr w2
Length: 12 months-possibility to convert to full time
Screenings: tech prior to submission, full panel drug and background once hired
IV process: 2-3 rounds
+optional benefits, long term contract with ability to extend or convert to full time
Must Haves:
2-4 years experience in this capacity
Minimum of Bachelors degree in CS or similar industry
2-4 years of professional software engineering experience
Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot
Hands-on experience with AWS (e.g., EC2, S3, Dynamo, RDS)
Solid SQL and relational database skills
Front-end development experience with Angular
Sound understanding of REST APIs, CI/CD, and Agile practices
Disqualifiers/Red Flags/Overqualifications:
Consistent job hopping/ choppy tenure

Typical task breakdown:
Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot
Build responsive front-end interfaces with Angular
Deploy, monitor, and optimize cloud-native applications on AWS
Write efficient SQL queries and manage relational data for test data management workflows
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, well-tested features
Interaction with team:
Overall team consists of 15 folks. Split into 3 smaller treams
This role will be on 1 of those 3 teams and grow into the lead role eventually.
This role could also end up becoming a full time employee.

Helios Tools & Test Data Management team builds and maintains scalable internal tooling and test data platforms that power engineering productivity and data quality across the organization.
