About the role
CSI Companies is seeking an experienced Data Scientist (Optimization - Gurobi) to support complex supply chain optimization initiatives within the automotive industry. This role focuses on designing, developing, and deploying optimization solutions that improve planning, inventory management, logistics, production scheduling, and overall supply chain performance.
This opportunity is ideal for a data scientist or optimization professional who enjoys solving complex business challenges through mathematical modeling, cloud technologies, and advanced optimization techniques. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Gurobi and AWS while working closely with business and technical stakeholders to deliver scalable decision support solutions.
You will collaborate with supply chain planners, operations teams, data engineers, and product stakeholders to build and deploy optimization solutions that drive measurable business value.
Hours: Standard business hours
Location: Dallas, Texas (4 days onsite per week required)
Pay: Competitive rate based on experience, education, and credentials

What you will do
- Design and develop optimization algorithms and decision support solutions for automotive supply chain operations
- Build scalable applications utilizing AWS cloud technologies and cloud native architectures
- Analyze business challenges related to demand planning, inventory optimization, logistics, production scheduling, and network flow
- Translate supply chain requirements into mathematical models, optimization frameworks, and heuristic solutions
- Develop and maintain optimization models using Gurobi
- Integrate optimization engines with enterprise systems, APIs, and data pipelines
- Collaborate with supply chain, operations, and product teams to define solution requirements
- Validate solution performance and optimize model efficiency
- Support deployment, monitoring, and ongoing enhancement of optimization solutions
- Document technical designs, assumptions, methodologies, and business outcomes
What we are looking for
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
- Strong experience in optimization modeling and mathematical problem solving
- Experience developing software solutions supporting operational decision making
- Hands on experience with Gurobi optimization solver
- Experience developing and solving mathematical optimization models
- Strong understanding of supply chain optimization concepts
- Experience with AWS cloud technologies
- Experience with cloud native application development
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast paced and collaborative environment
Nice to have
- Experience within automotive supply chain environments
- Experience with demand forecasting and inventory optimization
- Experience with logistics and transportation optimization
- Experience with production scheduling solutions
- Experience with network flow optimization
- Experience with AWS services including EC2, S3, Lambda, Glue, Step Functions, ECS, EKS, RDS, DynamoDB, or SageMaker
