About the role

Our client, a leader in Financial and Tax Software, is looking for someone to join their team as a Data Engineer in San Diego, CA.

This is a W2 contract budgeted until July 31, 2027

What You Will Be Doing

Perform advanced business and product analytics using statistical analysis, predictive modeling, data mining, and experimentation.

Partner with internal and external stakeholders to identify analytical needs and translate business questions into data-driven solutions.

Develop actionable insights and recommendations based on customer behavior, industry trends, and market factors.

Design and interpret complex experiments beyond traditional A/B testing.

Apply causal inference techniques such as propensity score matching, difference-in-differences, and synthetic control methods.

Build scalable, reusable analytics solutions that improve efficiency and reduce duplicated work.

Leverage Generative AI and emerging technologies to accelerate insights from multi-modal data.

Create ad hoc analyses, reports, and visualizations to support business decision-making.

Help develop and improve systems used to capture and analyze business operations data.

Collaborate cross-functionally and communicate findings to influence key business decisions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

5+ years of experience in data science or product analytics, preferably within fintech.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.

Advanced SQL skills.

Strong Python skills, including experience with NumPy, Pandas, and Scikit-learn.

Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Qlik, QuickSight, Plotly, or Dash.

Strong background in predictive modeling, customer segmentation, and experimentation.

Hands-on experience with causal inference methodologies.

Ability to formulate data-backed strategies that drive meaningful business growth and customer value.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, adapt to evolving technologies, and influence decision-makers.
