💻 Software Engineering Lead
We are partnering with a growing energy technology company seeking a Software Engineering Lead to build and scale software that manages distributed battery assets.
This is a hands on leadership role combining backend engineering, real time systems, operational software and team development. You will initially own critical services and applications before growing the engineering function.
What you will do
- Lead software supporting battery dispatch, state of charge, asset availability and operational decision making
- Build APIs, event driven services and applications processing telemetry, commands and system events
- Own operator dashboards, alerts, workflow tools and exception handling
- Improve reliability, observability and recovery across real time systems
- Automate asset configuration, commissioning, testing and readiness workflows
- Partner with controls, operations and platform teams to improve system performance
- Use AI tools and agents to support testing, code review, documentation and operational workflows
- Mentor engineers and help shape the architecture and technical direction
What we are looking for
- 5+ years of software engineering experience
- Strong production Python experience
- Experience building APIs, backend services and event driven systems
- Experience with real time, high reliability, hardware adjacent or industrial software
- Technical leadership or engineering mentorship experience
- Strong debugging skills across software, infrastructure, data and system behavior
- Experience building internal applications for operators or technical users
- Practical experience using AI tools within software development
Preferred experience
- GCP, including Cloud Run, Pub/Sub or Cloud SQL
- WebSockets, event streams or real time dashboards
- Battery storage, SCADA, EMS, DER, energy management or industrial controls
- DNP3, Modbus, ICCP or similar protocols
- State machines, simulation or deterministic logic
- Building or leading an engineering team
Responsibilities
