About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Software Engineer to join our Phantom Works team in Berkeley, MO. This role requires an individual with an active Top Secret security clearance and extensive experience in software development, particularly in Java and C++. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the Open Architecture Systems Integrated Software (OASIS) solutions within Boeing's Defense, Space & Security (BDS) division. The position involves leading complex software projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving innovation in space-based effects supporting air domain missions. The ideal candidate will have a passion for technology, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions that meet stringent security and operational requirements.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or related fields, along with a minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience. An active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance is mandatory. Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience working with Java and/or C++ in an object-oriented programming environment. Additionally, a minimum of 3 years of experience leading software development projects is required, demonstrating leadership and project management skills. Experience with MATLAB for at least 1 year is also necessary. Preferred qualifications include familiarity with physics-based modeling software, knowledge of flight dynamics, sensors, electromagnetics, or similar domains, and experience with DevSecOps practices such as version control, continuous integration, and containerization. Strong communication skills, customer orientation, and the ability to work effectively in an agile environment are highly valued.

Responsibilities

Lead the planning, design, coding, and testing of software features to ensure they meet customer requirements and acceptance criteria.

Collaborate with stakeholders to translate system-level requirements into detailed software specifications, ensuring traceability from requirements to implementation.

Conduct system-level analysis to identify risks and opportunities, and lead mitigation efforts throughout the software development lifecycle.

Review code and design artifacts through regular code reviews to maintain quality and compliance with standards.

Oversee testing activities, verify test results, and resolve issues to ensure software functionality and performance.

Monitor project progress against plans, evaluate team and supplier performance, and ensure alignment with industry standards and project goals.

Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering their professional development and enhancing team capabilities.

Interface with teams working across various programming languages and development tools to ensure seamless integration and collaboration.
