About the role

Overview

The Identity Platform team is seeking a Staff Engineer to design, build, and operate secure, scalable identity services that power authentication and authorization across Credit Karma and Intuit. This role combines deep hands-on engineering with identity protocol expertise, operational ownership of Tier-1 services, and close collaboration with other product and partner teams within Intuit to strengthen platform security, reliability and observability.

Responsibilities

Architect, design, build, and maintain secure, scalable identity services using Scala/Go/Java.

Own hands-on implementation and support of identity protocols including OAuth2, SAML, and FIDO/Passkeys.

Apply secure service design principles across new and existing identity services.

Develop new upstream service requirements each quarter in support of infrastructure and OKR delivery.

Build and maintain deep domain expertise in Authentication, Authorization and related technologies to support Intuit's broader platform objectives.

Support and help operate Identity services that power Intuit's Tier-1 critical systems.

Participate in the on-call rotation, driving timely issue resolution, root cause analysis, and incident prevention.

Partner with Platform, Product, SRE and other adjacent teams to improve platform observability and reliability.

Contribute to CI/CD pipeline design in CircleCI and maintain strong unit/integration test coverage.

Support service deployment and operations on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Collaborate with partner teams across Intuit and Credit Karma on urgent, time-sensitive identity initiatives.

Qualifications

Deep expertise in Scala/Java development, with a track record of building and operating production-grade services.

Strong knowledge of MySQL, including schema design, query optimization, and data integrity practices.

Hands-on, deep experience with OAuth2, SAML, and FIDO/Passkeys, along with secure service design principles.

Proficiency with CircleCI and strong practices in unit and integration testing.

Working knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for service deployment and operations.

Willingness and ability to participate in an on-call rotation, with a focus on timely issue resolution, root cause analysis, and incident prevention

Demonstrated ability to partner cross-functionally with SRE and other teams to improve observability and reliability.

Prior experience operating Tier-1 or otherwise business-critical production systems at scale.

Familiarity with Identity Protocol frameworks relevant to authentication (e.g., OAuth2, FIDO Alliance standards).

Experience mentoring engineers and driving technical direction at a Staff/Principal level
