About the Opportunity
A leading technology-driven financial firm is growing its AI engineering team and is looking for an experienced AI Engineer to help turn the latest advances in AI into practical, production-ready systems. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys building rather than just researching – taking ideas from initial experimentation through to deployment, adoption and continuous improvement.
The Role
You’ll build AI-powered applications including intelligent assistants, agent-based systems, developer tools and automated workflows.
You’ll work with modern LLMs and AI frameworks, integrating models with internal platforms, APIs, data and third-party services. You’ll also assess new models and technologies, deciding what is genuinely useful based on performance, reliability, cost and business impact.
A big part of the role will be making AI systems dependable. You’ll develop evaluation and benchmarking approaches, monitor production performance and build the infrastructure needed to operate AI applications securely and reliably at scale.
You’ll work closely with engineers, researchers and business stakeholders to identify opportunities, turn loosely defined problems into technical solutions and evolve successful prototypes into reusable production capabilities.
About You
You’ll have 6+ years of software engineering experience and strong production-level Python skills, alongside solid fundamentals in software architecture, distributed systems and testing.
You should have hands-on experience building and operating LLM applications, with a good understanding of areas such as prompt engineering, tool calling, context management, agents and model evaluation.
Experience with AI APIs, modern AI frameworks and MCP is valuable, as is a track record of taking AI projects from experimentation into production.
Most importantly, you’ll be an engineer first – someone who knows when AI is the right answer, when traditional software is better, and how to build systems that are reliable enough to be trusted.
