Job Description

We are seeking a Sr. Software Engineer, for a 3-to-6-month contract to maintain continuity and momentum across enterprise software, automation, integration, and AI-enabled solution initiatives.

In this role, you will serve as the senior technical lead and solution development advisor for Brookfield Residential. Your responsibilities will include solution design, hands-on development, targeted delivery support, and governance input across Azure Web Apps, Power Platform, Microsoft Copilot Studio, M365 Copilot, Azure AI services, and related automation.

This role is uniquely positioned to blend building, development, delivery, governance, and continuity support. You will translate complex business needs into scalable and supportable solutions, ensuring alignment with Brookfield’s enterprise guardrails. You will also collaborate closely with internal teams and vendors and support a seamless knowledge transfer at the end of the engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Act as the senior Software Engineer and technical lead for ongoing engineering initiatives. Translate business requirements into solution builds spanning Copilot Studio agents, Azure Web Apps, Power Automate workflows, Azure OpenAI / Azure AI services, and broader Power Platform solutions. Recommend architectural decisions, development patterns, security considerations, and integration approaches before development begins.

Support and improve production solutions across Power Platform, Azure Web Apps, integrations, automation workflows, and Copilot Studio agents, contributing hands-on development, troubleshooting, optimization, and support where required.

Provide technical feasibility, guardrail, and integration input to Product & Engineering leadership and IT collaborators.

Support the Citizen Development program, guiding internal users on guidelines for building secure and scalable solutions within the Power Platform and Copilot environments.

Support M365 Copilot pilot and early-adopter activities by offering technical feasibility and integration mentorship regarding M365 Copilot use cases, deployment and licensing questions, and custom Copilot agents/extensions across Teams and SharePoint. Serve as a technical advisor for M365 Copilot usage and extensibility questions.

Provide targeted advisory and support for Power Platform and Azure integration workflows, including AI-adjacent scenarios, Power Automate cloud/desktop flows, Azure Web Apps, Dataverse, Power Apps, Azure Logic Apps, app registrations, Key Vault, Application Insights, and related services where they address critical issues in business automation needs.

Maintain clear user documentation, solution diagrams, architecture artifacts, environment notes, runbooks, support paths, and design-decision records. Complete a structured knowledge transfer and handoff to designated internal owners before contract completion.

What You'll Bring

10+ years of experience crafting and developing systems using programming concepts (Object-Oriented Design & Development).

2+ years of experience delivering enterprise-grade automation, cloud, Microsoft platform, integration, or AI-enabled solutions, translating business requirements into scalable solutions.

Familiarity with AI-enabled solution patterns, including LLM workflows, agents, governance, and integration with business systems, is an asset.

Experience with implementing AI agent harnesses including orchestration, tool integration, state management, observability, evaluation, and error handling for production-grade software or AI-enabled solutions is an asset.

A proven understanding of the Microsoft cloud and AI stack is highly preferred, including Power Platform, Azure Web Apps, Copilot Studio, M365 Copilot, and Azure AI services.

Solid ability to bridge technical execution and business strategy.

Comfortable operating independently in a contract / interim role with limited ramp-up time.

Experience working in real estate, construction, corporate IT, internal application teams, or enterprise shared services is an asset.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field.

Relevant certifications in AI, cloud architecture, Microsoft Power Platform, Azure, or solution architecture are an asset.

Clear communicator who can explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical collaborators.
