About the Role
Talent Groups is seeking a Senior Java Developer to join a highly technical team supporting major retail technology modernization initiatives. This is a hands on role within a startup like environment, with ownership across requirements, development, testing, and deployment.
Retail experience is highly preferred, particularly experience with POS, NCR platforms, or retail technology.
What You'll Do
Design, develop, test, and deploy enterprise Java applications.
Build REST APIs and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
Participate throughout the full SDLC.
Support application modernization and migration initiatives.
Troubleshoot production and development issues.
Collaborate with architects and senior developers on technical solutions.
Participate in code reviews and Agile development.
Take ownership of projects with minimal supervision.
Required Qualifications
7+ years of professional Java development experience.
Strong Java 11, 17, or 21 experience.
Strong Spring and Spring Boot experience.
Experience with REST APIs and microservices.
Strong SQL and relational database experience.
Microsoft Azure experience.
Experience with Git and modern development practices.
Strong problem solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Retail industry experience
POS experience
NCR platform experience
Experience extending or customizing NCR platforms
React and full stack development
UI development or design experience
Experience with application modernization or migration
Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD
Kafka, RabbitMQ, MongoDB, or Redis
