A leader in the B2C financial industry is hiring a Software Engineer - AI Systems in Irvine, CA for a full time contract-to-hire position, onsite 3 days a week.

Hourly rate: $50-60 depending on relevant experience.
Software Engineer Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience, with 2+ years of professional software engineering experience.
2+ years working with Python and Flask or Django, plus strong RESTful API and SQL/relational database experience.
Hands-on experience with the Anthropic SDK/API and Claude Console is a must-have.
Comfortable building and debugging agentic loops (tool-call cycles, multi-turn agents, error recovery, self-verification) with sound judgment on when multi-agent orchestration is warranted.
Some DevOps exposure (Docker, CI/CD, AWS/Azure), familiarity with testing libraries (pytest, jest), and strong communication skills for explaining AI behavior and tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders.
Software Engineer Responsibilities:
Design, build, and deploy AI-driven services and agentic pipelines, including tool-use loops, multi-step agents, and orchestration.
Build and maintain integrations with the Anthropic API/SDK (Claude models, tool use, prompt caching, streaming), while writing and evaluating prompts for reliability, safety, and cost efficiency.
Develop RESTful APIs in Python and React/TypeScript front ends to support AI features.
Own DevOps for AI services — CI/CD, Docker, cloud deployment (AWS/Azure), and monitoring/observability for agent runs.
Design automated test frameworks covering both deterministic code and non-deterministic AI outputs, and maintain technical documentation on architecture and agent behavior.
