About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cybersecurity Software Engineer to join our dynamic team in Linthicum Heights, MD. This role plays a vital part in protecting secure systems by providing expert engineering support for the Cryptographic Solutions Program and MPO's network security products. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in software development, cybersecurity analysis, and cryptographic principles, with a focus on enhancing the security posture of national security infrastructure.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing cryptographic and cybersecurity solutions that meet rigorous security standards. This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that directly contribute to national security and defense initiatives. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, innovation in data protection techniques, and adherence to best practices in software engineering are key components of this role.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Candidates with four (4) additional years of relevant software engineering experience may qualify in lieu of a degree. Extensive experience is required, with a minimum of fourteen (14) years working as a Software Engineer on programs of similar scope, complexity, and technical requirements. An active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph is mandatory, reflecting the sensitive nature of the work.

Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, and familiarity with functional programming paradigms are essential. Experience with markup and data-interchange formats including YAML, JSON, and HTML is also required. The candidate should have a solid understanding of low-level network protocols (TCP/IP, OSI model) and cryptographic principles such as PKI, symmetric/asymmetric encryption, and hashing algorithms.

Additional qualifications include experience working within Linux and Windows environments, utilizing tools such as VS Code, Docker, GitLab CI/CD, and Scapy. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team are critical for success in this role.

Responsibilities

Provide advanced engineering, cybersecurity analysis, and cryptographic solutions to improve the security posture, testing, and certification of products deployed across the Intelligence Community (IC).

Drive innovation in data protection, high-assurance encryption, and secure computing architecture to safeguard national security infrastructure.

Design and develop software solutions, including writing robust code, and authoring comprehensive unit, integration, and system-level test suites.

Develop software primarily using Python, JavaScript, and functional programming paradigms, while utilizing markup and data-interchange formats such as YAML, JSON, and HTML.

Build and maintain software within modern Linux and Windows operating environments, leveraging tools such as VS Code, Docker, GitLab CI/CD, and Scapy.

Apply deep domain knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, OSI model) and cryptographic principles to develop secure software solutions.

Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure the successful integration and deployment of security solutions.

Participate in code reviews, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives to uphold high-quality standards.
