About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Mission Systems Software Development at Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) located in Daytona Beach, Florida. This role is pivotal in developing and integrating complex mission-critical software solutions for advanced aerospace projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and testing software throughout all phases of the development lifecycle, ensuring high standards of quality, security, and automation within an agile DevSecOps environment. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational background in computer science, engineering, or related fields, with extensive professional experience in software development. A minimum of 10 years of experience in full lifecycle software development, modeling, testing, and analysis using languages such as C, C++, C#, Python, Java, Ada, and Linux is required. Candidates must have the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance post-hire. Experience with version control systems like Git, ClearCase, or Subversion is essential. Preferred qualifications include 14 or more years of relevant experience, a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, and leadership skills to guide and mentor less experienced engineers. Familiarity with agile development processes, collaborative tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and experience in a DevOps environment will be highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

Participate in the development of use cases and software requirements to ensure comprehensive understanding of mission system needs.

Lead efforts to define, document, and maintain software architecture, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and design specifications for mission systems software.

Develop, integrate, and test complex software components to form a fully functional mission system software solution.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to less experienced software engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.

Act as an independent reviewer for program managers and customers, identifying best practices and areas for process improvement.

Contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle, from initial proposal and planning through delivery and support.

Support the analysis of software quality metrics and risk management strategies to enhance product reliability and performance.
